You can use any 100% cotton yarn and a hook size appropriate for the yarn weight you are using.
I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 and 4.5 mm crochet hook.
You will start by creating a magic circle. Check out my How To Make Crochet Magic Ring The Easy Way if you are not familiar.
Rnd 1: 1 ch (does not count as a stitch here and throughout), work 6 sc into the magic circle, sl st ti top of first sc. [6 sc]
Rnd 2: 1 ch, work (1 sc, 1 picot sc) into same st, repeat 6 times, sl st to top of first sc. [12 sts]
Rnd 3: 1 ch, (1 sc, 2 sc in next st) repeat 6 times, sl st to top of first sc. [18 sts]
Rnd 4: 1 ch, [1 sc in next, 1 picot sc in next, (1 sc, 1 picot sc) in next] repeat 6 times, sl st to top of first sc. [24 sts]
Rnd 5: 1 ch, (3 sc, 2 sc in next) repeat 6 times, sl st to top of first sc. [30 sts]
Fasten off and sew in both ends securely.
