This is a free crochet pattern for a beautiful spring crochet squares blanket consisting of three different squares. Together they create a stunning blanket – Floral Bloom.
I am excited to bring you this work of crochet art that this spring crochet blanket is!
I have designed three different squares ranging in sizes from 6, 12 to 18 inches square. Each square is an ode to spring in both the colors and the stitches.
If you know me, you know that I normally stick to easy “safe” color choices. But sometimes it doesn’t hurt to step out of your comfort zone and make something different!
You never know, you might discover something new about yourself!
Each square uses 6 different colors that capture the essence of the spring season perfectly.
I have also incorporated “spring-like” crochet stitches that represent different blooms and flowers.
On top of that, this project is also great for using up your own stash! If you have some colorful odds and ends of yarns you have previously used, perfect!

- the small square measures 6 inches, medium, square is 12 inches and the large square measures 18 inches
- each square starts with magic circle and is worked in joined rounds
- to start a round of dc you can either use 3 ch or the standing double crochet. I use standing dc which is written in the pattern, however, feel free to replace with traditional 3 ch
- for my finished blanket I used 2 large squares, 4 medium squares and 20 small squares
- I have written out the color changes in the tables below. however, feel free to change colors as and when you wish to make the finished blanket your own.
- you can easily change the layout of your squares, see some suggestions on the following pages
- you can also completely change the size of your blanket by working more/less of squares of different sizes or only using one of the three square patterns, choosing a thicker yarn weight and a larger hook
- the large square also doubles as a cushion cover, you will need to make two and sew them together

JOINING SQUARES
Once you have all the squares you need for your blanket, it is time to join them together.
There are many techniques of joining squares and you might have your preferred method.
I like to join my squares with a single crochet stitch.
I line up my squares with wrong sides together (right sides facing out).
I join in the corner 2 ch-sps of both squares and work a single crochet.
Then insert your hook through back loop only of the square near you and through the front loop (the loop closer to you) of the square further away from you.
Basically you are working through the loops that are closer together when you line the squares up together.
Work through all the loops across to next 2 ch-sp.
If you are joining 2 smaller squares onto the medium square (as an example), you will need to work through the last stitch of small square and corresponding stitch on the medium square. Then work through the corner 2 ch-sp of the small squares and the same stitch on the medium square you just worked into.
Then pick up another small square and work through the corner 2 ch-sp and next st on medium square. Then work through the first st on the small square and the same stitch on the medium square.
This is due to the fact that the corner 2 ch-sps create extra 2 stitches as opposed to the medium square.
The video tutorial explains this in greater detail and walks you through the process step by step.

I apologize if the yarn amounts list is in plain sight but I can not find it. What am I missing? I even went back and looked at the earlier emails but don’t see the list (or links to a yarn list) anywhere.
Hi Sherrie, if you scroll down to “Materials” section it gives you the yarn, colors and links to yarn substitutes. I have also added exact quantities of yarns used.
Small square – Round 4 is missing an asterisk. Also a bracket, but thatās not important. But it says ārepeat from *ā and there is no other * in that section of text.
Really like this pattern!
Thank you. I’ve fixed it now.
