DESIGN PROCESS
I loved the whole designing process behind my Elsa crochet cowl. I was lucky to be chosen as one of the guest designers to contribute to Underground Crafter beautiful blog.
Marie is a keen crafter herself who features so many talented designers. Not only crochet, but her blog has lots of knitting and sewing projects too! Have a look and get inspired!
I wanted to design a quick and easy crochet project that would be perfect for the upcoming season. Elsa crochet cowl is just that! It uses double zig zag crochet stitch combination.
This pattern repeats over 6 rows, but it only uses 4 different colours. That’s how you get different patterns in different colours.
This combination really adds to the unique look of this crochet cowl.
This pattern repeat consists of stitches from single crochet all the way to treble crochet. Although the combination is very easy, you get to practise a wide variety of crochet stitches.
I really love the colours I chose for this project. I tried to capture the true feeling of a proper winter season. It took me straight back to my childhood.
All those years ago when the snow was waist high and the icicles hanging off the roof were huge!
I have made this cowl in double height as I love the way it gathers up to create a modern crochet winter accessory.
It works up fast as I used worsted weight yarn to keep you snug and warm through the winter. If you prefer a classic looking cowl you can make it shorter.
You can repeat the main pattern between rounds 4 – 9 fewer times.

YARN I USED FOR ELSA CROCHET COWL
I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran from Lovecrafts. It is a lovely acrylic yarn and I love the huge choice of colours.
I have chosen lovely blues, grey and white which represent the upcoming season perfectly in my eyes.
If you prefer warmer colours or different colour combinations, there are plenty to choose from.
