- Emu Classic Aran (100% premium acrylic; aran/worsted weight/category 4 yarn; 210m/229yds per 100g ball) x 1 ball in each
- 6 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors

Stitches And Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms)
The pattern uses US Crochet Terminology
yrh – yarn over hook
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain stitch
ch-sp – chain space, specifically 1 ch-sp, 2 ch-sp etc.
rnd – round
prev – previous
rep – repeat
beg – beginning
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
sc blo – single crochet worked through back loop only
dc – double crochet
FPtr – front post treble crochet stitch – work a treble crochet stitch through the top loops of the indicated dc stitch 2 rounds below, working to the front of the 1 ch-sp
stand dc – standing double crochet – extend loop, hold with index finger, twist around hook towards you, insert hook, yarn over and pull through = 3 loops on the hook, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) twice to finish the stitch. For a full tutorial, please CLICK HERE.
Interlocking Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy Finished Size
25 cm/ 10 inch circumference x 10.5 cm/ 4 inch height
Tension/Gauge
13 sts x 9 rounds in established pattern = 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4 inch
Gauge Swatch Pattern
Chain 34, sl st into the first chain, making sure not to twist the foundation chain.
Rnd 1: 1 stand dc, 1 dc in each ch around, sl st to top of first st to join.
[34 dc]
Rnd 2: 1 stand dc, *1 ch, skip next st**, 1 dc in next; repeat from * around ending last repeat at **, sl st to top of first st to join.
[17 dc, 17 ch-sp]
Rnd 3: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st), 1 sc in top of first st, *1 FPtr worked into skipped st 2 rnds below working to the front of 1 ch-sp**, 1 sc in top of next dc; repeat around ending last repeat at **, sl st to top of first st to join.
[17 sc, 17 FPtr]
Rnd 4: 1 stand dc, 1 dc in each ch around, sl st to top of first st to join.

Repeat Rnd 2 – 4 another three times until your swatch is big enough to measure out a 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch area in the middle.
Count how many stitches and rounds fit into this area.
If you have fewer than 13 stitches and 9 rounds, you need to use a smaller hook.
If you have more than 13 stitches and 9 rounds, you need to use a larger hook.
Pattern Notes
- the coffee cup sleeve pattern starts with ribbing worked in single crochet through back loop only
- the length of this ribbing determines the finished circumference of the cup sleeve
- you can customise the finished size by adjusting the number of rows worked for the ribbing
- you must ensure the ribbing has EVEN number of rows for the interlocking pattern to work later on in the pattern
- to ensure a snug fit, make the ribbing band about 1 cm smaller than the cup so your finished sleeve won’t slide down
- once you reach the desired size of the ribbing band, you will fold it in half and crochet the last row and the underside of the foundation chain together to form the sleeve
- you will then continue working in joined rounds around the end sc stitched of each row of the ribbing
- the main body uses the interlocking crochet pattern that repeats over two rounds
- to adjust the height of the coffee cup sleeve, you can work more or less rounds
- the sleeve is then finished off with sc blo ribbing at the top
- this ribbing is worked straight into the sleeve at 90 degree (right) angle and joined onto the sleeve

Interlocking Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy Written Pattern
Bottom ribbing
With yarn A chain 5.
Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook (first 1 ch doesn’t count as a st), 1 sc across, turn.
[4 sc]
Row 2: 1 ch, 1 sc in first st, 1 sc blo across until last st, 1 sc into top of last st, turn.
[4 sc]
Repeat Row 2 until you have 32 rows in total or you reach the desired length of the ribbing ensuring you have EVEN number of rows.
Fold in half and sew or crochet the last row with the underside of the foundation chain together. Fasten off.
You will be working around each end sc st around the long edge of the ribbing.

Top ribbing
Join yarn A in first st.
Chain 5.
Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc across the chain just made, sl st to same st on main sleeve, sl st into next st on main sleeve, turn.
[4 sc]
Row 2: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st throughout), 1 sc blo in each st until last, 1 sc in last, turn.
[4 sc]
Row 3: 1 ch, 1 sc, 3 sc blo, (sl st into next st on main sleeve) twice, turn.
[4 sc]
Repeat Rows 2 – 3 around the whole coffee cup sleeve stitches.
Line up the last row with the underside of the foundation chain sts and crochet/sew together to create the top ribbing. Fasten off.
Sew in all ends.
