Materials
- Emu Classic Aran (100% premium acrylic; aran/worsted weight/category 4 yarn; 210m/229yds per 100g ball) x 1 ball in each of the colors
- 6 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers

Stitches And Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms)
The pattern uses US Crochet Terminology
yrh – yarn over hook
mc – magic circle
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain stitch
ch-sp – chain space, specifically 1 ch-sp, 2 ch-sp etc.
rnd – round
prev – previous
rep – repeat
beg – beginning
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
FPtr – front post treble crochet stitch – work a treble crochet stitch through the top loops of the indicated dc stitch 2 rounds below, working to the front of the 1 ch-sp
stand dc – standing double crochet – extend loop, hold with index finger, twist around hook towards you, insert hook, yarn over and pull through = 3 loops on the hook, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) twice to finish the stitch. For a full tutorial, please CLICK HERE.

Interlocking Crochet Basket Finished Size
one size, easily adjustable
Tension/Gauge
10 sts x 7 rounds with yarn held triple in established pattern = 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4 inch
Gauge Swatch Pattern
Chain 34, sl st into the first chain, making sure not to twist the foundation chain.
Rnd 1: 1 stand dc, 1 dc in each ch around, sl st to top of first st to join.
[34 dc]
Rnd 2: 1 stand dc, *1 ch, skip next st**, 1 dc in next; repeat from * around ending last repeat at **, sl st to top of first st to join.
[17 dc, 17 ch-sp]
Rnd 3: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st), 1 sc in top of first st, *1 FPtr worked into skipped st 2 rnds below working to the front of 1 ch-sp**, 1 sc in top of next dc; repeat around ending last repeat at **, sl st to top of first st to join.
[17 sc, 17 FPtr]
Rnd 4: 1 stand dc, 1 dc in each ch around, sl st to top of first st to join.
[34 dc]
Repeat Rnd 2 – 4 another three times until your swatch is big enough to measure out a 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch area in the middle.
Count how many stitches and rounds fit into this area.
If you have fewer than 10 stitches and 7 rounds, you need to use a smaller hook.
If you have more than 10 stitches and 7 rounds, you need to use a larger hook.

Pattern Notes
- You will start with crocheting a simple circle using the single crochet stitch
- The size of the circle will determine the finished circumference of your basket
- You can adjust the size by simply adjusting the starting circle with more/less rounds
- The bottom circle pattern is worked in joined rounds using single crochet
- The main body of the basket uses the interlocking crochet stitch pattern alternating with plain rounds of double crochet stitch
- You can customise the finished height of the basket by repeating more/less rounds
- The main body uses the interlocking crochet pattern that repeats over two rounds
- You can use any weight of yarn for your basket
- If you are aiming for a sturdy basket that holds its shape, use a thick yarn or the worsted-weight yarn held triple

With holding 3 strands of yarn A together create a magic circle to start.
Rnd 1: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st here and throughout the pattern), 6 sc into the magic circle, sl st to top of first st to join.

Rnd 2: 1 ch, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to top of first st to join.

Rnd 3: 1 ch, (1 sc, 2 sc in next st) 6 times, sl st to top of first st to join.

Rnd 4: 1 ch, (2 sc, 2 sc in next st) 6 times, sl st to top of first st to join.
[24 sc]
Rnd 5: 1 ch, (3 sc, 2 sc in next st) 6 times, sl st to top of first st to join.
