Let me start by saying that this is not a crochet book with finished and ready-to-go patterns. This book teaches you how to transform beautiful stitch patterns in so many ways.
This is an amazing resource book that is suitable for crocheters that like to make up their own simple patterns.
This crochet stitch dictionary-style book has 19 fantastic crochet stitch patterns. However, that is not just that.
Every crochet stitch pattern has been cleverly crocheted in four different ways for unlimited possibilities for exploration.
The stitch patterns are shown Even in Rows, Even in Rounds, Increase In Rows, and Increase In Rounds.
That means that whichever way you want to use a particular stitch pattern, this book gives you the knowledge to do so.
Stitch Patterns
As you can see, each stitch pattern has a clear photo of the swatch. This is to show you how the stitch pattern behaves and what shape it takes on when you increase.
As well as thorough written instructions with repeating information, there are handy crochet charts to give you a visual representation of the stitches and their placement.
The book starts off with simple crochet stitch patterns. This is great for beginner crocheters who would like to step up from working in simple rows or rounds.
It will give you the knowledge to start shaping your crochet fabric whether you are working in rounds or rows.
After practicing a few basic crochet stitches, you can then move on to more advanced stitches. These include a clever combination of stitches to create lace and openwork.
You can then use this to create more complex projects like shawls, hats, shaped sweaters, and summer lace tops.

“Crochet Power” by Kristin Omdahl is just what I need! She has taken all of the basic stitches and shown how to use them for just about any design purpose. This would be my “go-to” book when trying to figure out what stitches to use/how to create almost anything!
