Yarn I Used For Crochet Baby Vest Top

I must be honest and say that this design was made quite a while ago for one of the UK crochet magazines.

I used Patons 100% cotton DK yarn which was lovely to work with. The yarn has a slight sheen to it too, so it creates a real great stitch definition and a smooth fabric.

The yarn is mercerised, machine-washable cotton in bold bright colours. This yarn is tightly spun, so it won’t fray as you work and has a lovely shine and it’s easy to care for too.

Essentially, any decent cotton yarn would be fine to use. However, we know that babies and young children can be super messy.

So opt for yarn that washes well at higher temperatures. Here are some alternatives you might like to check out:

King Cole Cottonsmooth DK – made of 100% mercerised cotton, this DK-weight yarn will be perfect for knitting and crocheting tops and cardigans for the warmer weather.

The yarn has a smooth finish which guarantees excellent stitch definition. And great news – it’s machine washable at 40!

Rico Essentials Organic Cotton – This high-quality DK yarn is lightweight yet durable, perfect for babywear and summer knits for the whole family.

Available in a wide range of shades, from pastels to autumn hues and bright colours to make your clothes and accessories pop. 100% cotton.

Cascade Ultra Pima – Ultra Pima offers a stunning range of shades in 100% Pima cotton. It is perfect for Summer cover-ups, super-soft for babywear and easy to wash.
