This is a free crochet V-stitch cozy scarf that is a great unisex pattern. It works up quickly and uses a simple repeat row pattern so you can whip one up for cold days.
The combination of bulky yarn and a larger hook creates magic in no time at all.
I must say that I enjoyed working up this easy double crochet V-stitch scarf as it worked up so quickly. I was surprised I could make it in a single day even with the kiddos around!
The great thing is that this easy pattern would also make a great infinity scarf. All you have to do is fold the two shorter ends together after completing the last st and either crochet them together with your crochet hook or sew them with a needle.
However, today I am excited to share this free pattern with you for a classic scarf. It uses a very simple stitch pattern that is suitable for a complete beginner too.
Crochet V-stitch Scarf Design Details
The stitch I used is V stitch which consists of double crochet stitches separated by chain spaces. Each end of the row is finished off with a double crochet stitch.
I used the standing double crochet stitch instead of a turning chain. This gives the scarf a polished look with neat edges. The V-stitch is also an easy repeat to remember so you can work on this scarf while binging on Netflix.
I have used 2 skeins of yarn for this project – Hobbii Fantasy which is 100% acrylic yarn that creates a lovely colour transition.
The yarn I used is a bulky weight, however, you could also use DK weight yarn instead and a smaller hook size. Of course, the amount of rows and stitches will have to be adjusted too to accommodate the thinner yarn.
To adjust the width, simply add more stitches. The multiple for V stitch is 3 + 1. To adjust the length, simply repeat any number of rows until you reach the desired length.
