Free Lace Crochet Water Bottle Holder Pattern Details

This lace crochet water bottle holder pattern is so easy to follow to create your very own bottle carrier. This is such a cute and practical make that will leave your hands completely free!

What a stylish way to keep hydrated not just in summer, but all year round.

We will start working on the bottom circle – which is the most important part of the pattern as the size of this circle will determine the finished size of the whole holder.

I will give you lots of tips and tricks on how to adjust the bottom circle to fit your very own water bottle so you can make a custom fitting holder.

The main body of the holder works up quicker than you can say “I’m thirsty!” due to the picot mesh stitch.

And last but certainly not least we will create an adjustable handle that can be worn over the shoulder, crossbody or shortened into carry handles.

Tension/Gauge

the finished circle at the bottom after round 3 measures 7 cm/ 2.75 inch across

The gauge is not crucial for this project as you can easily adjust the finished water bottle holder to suit your own bottle.

The bottom circle determines the overall size of the holder so in order to adjust the overall size, we need to adjust the size of the circle.

My circle consists of 3 rounds in total. I have included instructions for a couple of additional rounds which should be plenty of room to fit most water bottles.

If you need to adjust the circle by only a small margin, you can use one or all of the following tricks:

  • replace the last round of hdc sts with dc sts
  • make the whole circle in dc sts
  • use a hook one size bigger

The most important thing is that the final stitch count of the circle is a multiple of 6. This is needed for the main body stitch pattern to work.

Pattern Notes

  • the water bottle holder is worked bottom up
  • we will start with crocheting the circle which cover the bottom of the water bottle
  • by adjusting the size of this bottom circle, we can adjust the overall size of the finished water bottle holder, I share more about this in the Tension/Gauge section of the pattern
  • the main body uses picot mesh stitch which combines large chain spaces with picot stitches
  • the top of the holder is then finished off with a few rounds of hdc stitches
  • we will also create 4 openings in the middle round at the top for the handle to be threaded through
  • the handle is adjustable and can be worn as a shoulder strap, cross body or can be shortened to a carry handle
  • I used the Romanian crod for the handle
