This is a collection of mini skeins crochet project ideas that would work perfectly for your yarn advent calendar minis! Choose from a variety of projects and let the yarn do the talking!
Have you recently treated yourself to a yarn advent calendar? Or have been given a beautiful set of mini skeins?
Although in both instances, the gifted yarn can be beautiful and super special, it can be hard to decide on a project.
I personally signed up to a hand dyed mini skein yarn advent calendar about two years ago.
And I must admit, opening a little calendar door knowing there is a stunning mini skein of yarn behind it, was nothing short of exciting!
However, I haven’t used the yarn yet. I have started a couple of projects with the set of mini skeins, but no crochet project has excited me enough to actually see it through to finish.
Until recently when the inspiration has struck and I am now very nearly finished with a wearable project that I will be sharing with you very soon!
For now, I wanted to bring some inspiration to you. If you have treated yourself to a yarn advent calendar and don’t know what to do with the yarn, read on!
I have compiled 10 amazing mini skeins crochet project ideas for you to choose from.

10 Mini Skeins Crochet Project Ideas
Here are 10 amazing crochet project ideas that I think would work perfectly with a set of mini skeins.
The projects I have chosen for this collection will also work with small amounts of leftover yarn that you have already in your stash.
This is especially useful for this time of the year after the gift making marathon. Chances are that you will be left with odds bits of yarn that you need to use up.
You can choose from various types of mini skeins crochet project ideas like blankets, shawls or a cardigan.
Each project is unique in the way it is constructed or the technique it uses.
So not inly will you use up stash yarn or put your mini skeins set into use, you can also learn a brand new technique in crochet.
Take a look below and choose from one of these ten amazing mini skeins crochet project ideas:

Six Weeks Of Summer Crochet Shawl Project
I know that kicking off a collection in January with a summer pattern can feel a bit weird. However, I think this crochet shawl pattern is the perfect mini skeins crochet project idea.
I have released the pattern as a crochet along a couple of years ago. It consists of six different stitches separated by a repeating section.
The pattern lends itself to many great color combinations and I think it would work perfectly with a set of mini skeins in complementing colors.
The written pattern is available for free on my blog 6 Weeks of Summer Shawl Crochet Along.
If you would like some extra help in form of video tutorials, those are available in the PDF pattern that can be purchased from my shops on Ravelry or Etsy.

Sedona Crochet Shawl Project For Mini Skeins
The Sedona Mosaic Crochet Shawl is a real statement piece. Wear this whenever you want to turn heads!
If you wear a lot of black and grey and want to create an accessory that would brighten up even the most dreary days, you need to use your mini skeins for this project.

Color Me Happy Mini Skeins Crochet Cardigan
Color Me Happy is a cardigan I have designed in my early career for Crochet Now magazine.
It is a circular yoke cardigan that has been designed in seven sizes from XS to 3XL. I am planning to add a couple of more larger sizes to this cardigan to make it size inclusive.
The yoke has an easy construction that would show off the mini skeins perfectly.
The main body uses a different stitch after you split the yoke, however you could easily just stick to a double crochet stitch and keep on using up your yarn scraps or mini skeins.
FOLLOW THIS LINK for the PDF crochet pattern, please note it uses UK crochet terms and has seven sizes only.

Tunisian Entrelac can be a great pattern for using up small amounts of yarn or would work perfectly as a mini skeins crochet project.
The small squares that entrelac creates would showcase your mini skeins perfectly and make them stand out.
This Tunisian entrelac shawl is a great option for colder autumn mornings and evenings when in a need of warm yet elegant accessory.
Long transitions of reds and pinks bring back memories of gardens in full bloom during spring and summer days.

Santiago Chevron Blanket for Mini Skeins
This is a striking blanket inspired by the capital city of the Republic of Chile in South America.
It uses colours, textures, and a bold chevron design to create a dramatic and colourful addition to your home.
Made in strips and sewn together at the end, with a bright fringe edging. You can pair your mini skeins or yarn scraps with one neutral color for a real contrast and pop of color.
The pattern was featured in issue 42 of Crochet Now magazine and the PDF can be purchased on Ravelry BY CLICKING HERE.
Please note the PDF uses UK crochet terms.

Mini Skeins Crochet Wrap Project
Minack Wrap was a labour of love project. But it has given me a great satisfaction when I finally completed it!
I worked it in long rows along the long edge of the shawl. This type of construction is what I think works best for mini skeins.
The ripple stitch is a crochet pattern known for its undulating, wave-like appearance. It creates a visually striking and textured design that resembles gentle ripples or waves, which is how it got its name.
You can work each long row in a different color. Don’t worry if you have any yarn leftover, you can then use it for the fringe along the shorter sides of the shawl.

Candy Bars Shawl For Mini Skeins
Candy Bars shawl is a triangular crochet shawl pattern that combines a variety of stitches.
It increases along one side creating a great elongated triangle shape that is easy to wear and style with any outfit.
The stitches I used are really basic so even a beginner can make this shawl. The single crochet worked through back loop only brings a great texture. Whereas the treble crochet brings lightness and airy light feel to the fabric.
You can purchase the PDF crochet pattern on Ravelry ON THIS PAGE. Please note as all my early magazine patterns, it uses UK crochet terms.

Battenberg Crochet Blanket Project For Mini Skeins
This blanket has been made with the mini skeins in mind. The small solid granny squares against the neutral cream really stand out and are showcased perfectly!
The blanket also uses new ‘Join As You Go’ (JAYG) technique for crocheting all these squares together. You can learn how to crochet this technique by watching the video tutorial available.
You can read more about this gorgeous blanket BY FOLLOWING THIS LINK.

Mango Sorbet Stole For Mini Skeins
As you can see on the Ravelry page, this chevron style crochet shawl lends itself to so many different color combinations.
Which also makes it a perfect project for using us scraps of yarn or a set of mini skeins.
You can break up the mini skeins with a solid color to really set them off. And as usual, I am a stickler for using up as much of the precious skeins of yarn as possible.
Hence why I would even suggest using any little bits leftover to use for the fringe across the two shorter sides of the shawl.

Mini Skeins Minnow Crochet Throw Project
This gorgeous throw pattern has been designed for mini skeins.
Itās easy to do, and the final look results in a gorgeous knit-like texture. The use of the mini skeins creates beautiful fades.
The pattern is also flexible enough to make in any size you wish. The pattern includes a handy chart to give you the yardage youāll need for 5 different blanket sizes (security, stroller, crib, medium throw, or large throw)
