Free pattern for a crochet hooded vest suitable for children from 6 months to 3 years old

This child crochet hooded vest pattern has been designed for the little people in your life from sizes 6 months up to 3 years old.

This cute design has a special place in my heart. I have started designing when I was pregnant with my first son Jacob.

The lack of cool clothes for boys in the shops has led me to design my own. Secondly, how proud do you feel when you see your little one in something cute that you made yourself.

Crochet Hooded Vest Design Process

I love the simplicity of this crochet hooded vest design for kids. I have made two separate pieces – the front and back panel.

These are sewn together at the sides and shoulder seams to create the basic shape. The V shaped neckline adds a lovely design feature.

However, it is also super practical as it creates a wide neck opening. This makes dressing and undressing your little one so much easier.

The large hood is then worked onto the finished vest around the V neck opening. I think the hood really makes this kids crochet vest a lovely layering piece.

The pattern uses linen stitch, sometimes called the moss stitch too. Check out THIS PAGE for a quick tutorial to dust off your skills.
