If you have fewer than 13 stitches and 9 rounds, you need to use a smaller hook.
If you have more than 13 stitches and 9 rounds, you need to use a larger hook.

Pattern Notes
- the hat pattern starts with ribbing worked in single crochet through the back loop only
- the length of this ribbing determines the finished circumference of the hat
- you can customise the finished size by adjusting the number of rows worked for the ribbing
- you must ensure the ribbing has an EVEN number of rows for the interlocking pattern to work later on in the pattern
- please note your adjusted number of stitches might not work with the crown decreases
- once you reach the desired size of the ribbing band, you will fold it in half and crochet the last row and the underside of the foundation chain together to form the hat brim
- you will then continue working in joined rounds around the end sc stitched of each row of the ribbing
- the main body uses the interlocking crochet pattern that repeats over two rounds
- to adjust the height of the hat, you can work more or fewer rounds
- the hat is then shaped at the top with decreases and cinched together
- you can add a pom pom if you wish, or leave it as it is
