Free spring crochet blanket pattern that uses easy to remember and relaxing stitch pattern. Combines gentle waves with a row of tulip stitches for a lovely spring home accessory.
The subtle sun rays poking from behind the stubborn clouds… first heads of colorful flowers working their way through the cold ground…
With the birds chirping away, spring is definitely on the cards…
It might be a little too early for the warmer days, however it is never too early to start working on your spring crochet blanket!
I am excited to bring this blanket pattern for spring to the blog.
If you have followed for a little while, you might just recognise this stitch pattern and combination.
Spring Crochet Blanket Pattern Details
You might remember that a few years ago, I was part of a collaboration with other designers called Mindful Blanket.
It was run as a crochet along with four other designers under the wings of a yarn company that no longer exists.
The blanket was designed to celebrate the Mindful Day in 2020 when it was really needed for so many people.
Mindfulness is all about reminding yourself to take notice of your thoughts, feelings, body sensations around you and to be aware of how you are feeling within the current moment.
The blanket consisted of five different parts each designed by a different designer. Unfortunately, after the company closed down, the pattern has not been available.
I have decided to release my part only as a stand alone blanket design for spring. I absolutely adore the wave stitch pattern that is so gentle and easy to work.
Combined with a section of more challenging stitches, I think this blanket is both a mindful relaxing project as well as one that will keep your interest.

Yarn
The original sample of all five sections was made in Deramores Studio DK yarn. Although there are a few in stock over on Lovecrafts website, I believe officially the yarn has been discontinued.
However, the great thing about this spring crochet blanket is that you can use up your scraps. The rows use a variety of colors so you can make a really colorful crochet blanket.
For the remake of my section of the blanket only – Claudius Blanket I used Hobbii Kind Feather DK yarn. It is a standard DK weight yarn which is super easy to substitute if you wish to.
If you wanted to stick to the same colors as I have used but would like to use a different brand or go stash shopping, here are the quantities you will need in each color:
Dark Blue | 95g |
White | 220g |
Dark Green | 125g |
Purple | 80g |
Lime Green | 100g |
Yellow | 95g |
Red | 185g |
Lilac | 205g |
The finished Claudius Blanket measures 95 x 125 cm or 37.5 x 49 inches. You will be working the rows lengthways.
Here are a few other yarns that would be suitable for this spring crochet blanket project:
- Stylecraft Special DK in White, Plum, Wisteria, Lapis, Kelly Green, Apple, Sunshine, Tomato Red,
- Swish DK in Bluebird, Forest Heather, Peapod, Honey, Serrano, Eggplant, Haze Heather, White,
- Paintbox Yarns DK in Sailor Blue, Grass Green, Lime Green, Rose Red, Daffodil Yellow, Pale Lilac, Jam, Paper White
