Cable Crochet Fingerless Gloves – Twistwood Gloves Pattern Details
For this design, I chose an aran weight yarn—specifically City Tweed from WeCrochet—and paired it with a 6 mm crochet hook to achieve the perfect balance of structure and softness.
This pairing allows the cables to stand out beautifully, showcasing every twist and ridge, while still keeping the fabric supple, warm, and incredibly comfortable to wear.
The slightly larger hook helps create a gentle drape that hugs the hands without feeling stiff or bulky, making these fingerless gloves ideal for everyday use during cooler months.
What truly makes City Tweed special are its subtle flecks of color and texture, which add a lovely visual depth to the finished piece.
Even in a solid or neutral shade, those tiny hints of tweed bring dimension and charm, giving the gloves a timeless, handmade quality that complements the classic cable design.
Of course, you can easily make this pattern your own by using any aran or worsted weight yarn from your stash.
Whether you opt for a rustic wool for extra warmth, a soft acrylic blend for easy care, or a touch of luxury with alpaca or merino, this project is wonderfully adaptable—and a fantastic way to use up leftover yarn while creating something both practical and beautiful.

Materials
- City Tweed (Aran/Heavy Worsted/Category 4 weight yarn; 55% Merino Wool, 25% Superfine Alpaca, 20% Donegal Tweed; 164 yds/ 150 m per 3.5 oz/ 100g) x 1 ball in Snowbank
- 6 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Yarn Substitutes
- Woodland Tweed – is a merino-alpaca blend that strikes a fine balance between rustic and refined. With just enough alpaca to take best advantage of that downy fiber’s warmth and softness, this largely Merino yarn is warm enough for woodland winters and soft enough to wear against the skin.
- Rowan Felted Tweed Aran – beautifully blends merino wool, alpaca and viscose into luxurious, lightly pre-felted yarns. It has a gorgeous colour palette, great stitch definition and wonderful results every time.

Cable Crochet Fingerless Gloves Finished Size
one size fits most
22 cm/ 8.75 inch hand circumference x 16.5 cm/ 6.5 inch finished height
Please note the inch measurements have been rounded off to nearest quarter.

Tension/Gauge
7.5 FPcrossdc sts x 10 rnds worked in pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inch

If you have less than 7.5 FPcrossdc sts x 10 rnds, you need to use a smaller hook.
If you have more than 7.5 FPcrossdc sts x 10 rnds, you need to use a larger hook.
Pattern Notes
- the fingerless gloves are worked bottom up
- you will start with working on the cuff in single crochet stitches worked through back loop only
- the cuff is then attached together to form a ring
- main body of the fingerless gloves are worked around the cuff, you will pick up stitches around the end single crochet of each row of the cuff
- the main body is worked in front post cross double crochet – this is a variation of the standard cross double crochet worked around the post of the stitches rather than through the top loops
SIZE ADJUSTEMENTS
- the amount of short rows in the cuff determines the finished circumference of the fingerless gloves should you need to make them wider
- to adjust this, add or take away even number of rows so you always have even amount of stitches to start with
- to adjust the height of your fingerless gloves, mke the cuff taller/shorter or add or take away rounds on the main body of the glove
- The stitches in italic separated by [] are stitch counts, those stitches are not to be worked again.
