This is a free crochet shrug pattern for women I designed in four different sizes. Perfect crochet garment for layering and transitional weather.
Crochet shrug patterns are such great projects! They are fairly easy to make and are a great addition to your wardrobe.
You can easily pair them up with jeans and T-shirt for a casual look. However, you can also put them on over a dress to keep your shoulders warm.
There are many possibilities you can wear a crochet shrug. It is the perfect piece to use when layering your clothes.
They will also make a great piece to wear in a transitional weather. When it is not too cold but not hot either.
It will be an easy way to keep you warm with a lightweight garment without making you overheat.
What is a crochet shrug?
Crochet shrug pattern has usually a few distinct characteristics.
A lot of the time, crochet shrugs are cardigan-like crochet garments that can be cropped in length.
Their construction is simple and you can often make a crochet shrug from a basic crochet shape. Amongst the most popular shapes are rectangle, square or even a circle.
These basic shapes then get folded in half and seamed to create a wearable piece of crochet fabric.
The way these shapes are seamed often create armhole openings. You can then add a simple sleeve or ribbing to the armhole to finish the simple garment off.
Autumn Storm Crochet Shrug Design
I am so excited to share my Autumn Storm Shrug pattern with you.
You can construct this women’s crochet shrug from a simple triangle. The triangle uses corner to corner crochet technique.
This means you start crocheting from the bottom point of the shrug. Then you work in C2C pattern increasing the size of the triangle until you reach the desired size.
The simple triangle shape is then folded over along the red broken lines to create back and two front halves.
To finish the crochet shrug pattern off, you will add sleeve cuffs. These are worked in front and back post double crochet stitches.
The last thing that finishes off the shrug is the added neckline. You will again use front and back post double crochet stitches combined with half double crochet stitch.

Crochet Shrug Pattern Notes

- It is then folded across the broken lines to create sleeves.
- The neckline is finished off by working a few rows of mock ribbing.

Could one make this cardigan with out the point down the back??
It is made from triangle so although not impossible, it might take a little working out how to turn a triangle point into a line
