Free crochet square pattern for twelve inch crochet block to make into a beautiful crochet blanket.
This beautiful crochet square pattern has been designed for 2021 Stash Busting Sampler Afghan Crochet Along organised by Heather from The Unravelled Mitten.
It is a stash busting crochet project to use up all your odd bits and bobs of yarn and make it into something beautiful and useful at the same time!
Blanket crochet alongs can be a lot of work. Hence why Heather has invited some of her crochet designer friends to contribute with a crochet square pattern.
I am so happy to be part of this amazing group of crochet designers. I am so excited to be bringing you my Turquoise Delight Crochet Square Pattern!
The crochet along consists of twenty 12 inch crochet squares.
The Unravelled Mitten website lists all the pattern links and details you will need to join in with the crochet along. CLICK HERE for the main CAL page where you can find more information.
Turquoise Delight Crochet Square Pattern
All the patterns use aran/worsted weight yarn and 5 mm hook. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran for my crochet square pattern.
It is a lovely acrylic yarn to work with. I have opted for 3 different colours to make some of the crochet stitches really pop.
The blues and grey give this crochet square a little bit of a winter/ice feeling. However, you can opt for warmer colours or have a complete random mix of colours.
It is always a great idea to look around your room and pick out some basic colours you blanket will match. Add a couple of accent colours and you will make a stunning crochet throw to have on show!
The middle of the square uses some “fancy” crochet stitches whereas the outside rounds are a bit more plain.
There is a reason I have done this for. We as crocheters all have a different tension we work to.
If you are struggling to match the tension perfectly or your square might not be coming out the exact size, there is an easy fix.
You can simply add an extra round or omit the last round altogether. This way it will be much easier to make a square of the required size.

Hi there Veronica,
I am excited to find your ’13 Stunning Granny Squares’. I need to kick my skills up a notch
and will do this with making few more dish cloths. I do not need more dish cloths but they
are easy-to-learn new stitches projects that are keepers or give to someone.:)
Then again, I can consider an afghan and make squares for an afghan. Someone will
get lucky.
Anywho, I am glad to be on your blog š
Wendy
