Lace Crochet Squares Blanket Pattern Details

I can’t believe how well this blanket turned out! It is everything I wanted it to be – modern, classic and easy to use in any room in the house!

As you can see from the photos, the light beige is such a great color you can use throughout your home and therefore this blanket.

The finished blanket consists of 20 crochet squares making it a perfect size for a lap throw.

Of course you can completely customise the finished size of your blanket by making less or more squares.

I adore these cute crochet squares. They have just the right amount of lace and texture combined!

To join my squares, I used the flat slip stitch join which is an awesome technique that creates a truly flat and pretty looking join between the squares.

For the border I decided to keep it classy with a modified mock ribbing border. The reason I say modified is because we don’t want the ribbing cinching our blanket but make it lay nice and flat.

Joining Squares

Join your squares in 4 x 5 grid. I used the flat slip stitch method to join my squares.

Align two squares with right side facing up next to each other.

Insert hook through the chain stitch in the corner 2 ch-sp of two squares from the right side to wrong side, create a slip knot with your yarn and pull through making sure your yarn is behind your squares, a bit like when we work the surface slip stitch in crochet.

Then insert hook through the next ch st on both squares, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

To work through the stitches, insert hook through back loop only on both squares, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.

For more visual help with the flat slip stitch joining method, please watch the video tutorial linked.
