If you are stuck for gift ideas, this men’s mittens crochet pattern is here to save the day. Make these quick crochet mittens for men in no time!
I am continuing the mission to save you a lot of head scratching moments! When it comes to making presents for men I know it’s not easy.
I have been making and designing some quick crochet makes for the men in your life.
Whether you are looking for a great crochet present for dad, husband or brother this men’s mittens crochet pattern will be a life saver!
Men’s Mittens Crochet Pattern
I have used two different colours for these men’s crochet mittens. This makes it a great pattern where you can combine the recipient’s favourite colours.
If they are a football fan, you can also use their favourite club’s colours.
The men’s mittens crochet pattern uses interlocking crochet technique. This is a stepping stone to the ever popular mosaic crochet.
I have previously used this technique for a couple of patterns which are supported by a video tutorial. Check out Interlocking Crochet Technique ā Simple Guide For Beginners which will show you the basics.
Although it shows you how to work the Interlocking Crochet Cushion Cover the technique applies the same to this pattern too.
This technique creates a very stretchy fabric width and lengthways. So it is very forgiving when it comes to slight differences in sizes. The mittens pattern is one size fits all. However, it includes suggestions on how to adjust for bigger or smaller sizes.
If you are not pushed for time, I would suggest also making a matching hat. Crochet Beanie Easy Pattern ā Anton Beanie is a hat that uses the interlocking crochet technique too. That means you can make a lovely gift set.
As you can see from the picture below, the mittens are constructed from tips of fingers down. The thumbhole is created while working on the main part of the mitten. A stretchy cuff finishes off the mittens nicely.

MEN’S MITTENS CROCHET PATTERN NOTES
- Pattern starts with a foundation chain which creates the top of the mitten, it is worked top down
- Each round is worked in same colour yarn by working front post treble crochet stitches around the post of stitches in same colour two rounds below
- The stitches are worked to the front of the 1 ch-sp created to skip over the front post sts
- Do not fasten off colours after each round, change colours on the wrong side of your work carrying them up, be careful not to pull them too tight
- There is also a VIDEO TUTORIAL for interlocking crochet available, to watch it please CLICK HERE
SIZE ADJUSTMENTS
- The foundation chain determines the finished width of the top part of the mitten
- To make it wider add stitches or to make it narrower, take away stitches from the foundation chain. You can also work additional rounds for the top finger part to increase number of stitches for the main part of the mitten
- PLEASE NOTE for the pattern to work you must keep an EVEN number of stitches
- To adjust the length of the mitten, work more/less rounds before or after the thumb opening

Thank you for the yarn recommendation! I bought your recommended yarn to make my finance mittens and it is absolutely perfect. Super soft and works really well for the mittens. I had never done this kind of stitch before, and the youtube video was helpful so I could understand it (since I found the pattern itself kind of hard to follow–which isn’t surprising given how complicated the stitch is!). The first mitten was a bit of learning curve, but after I did that then the second one was much faster. I will absolutely be using this pattern again in the future!
I am glad you like the recommended yarn and managed to make the mittens. Sometimes one picture or video speaks louder than a thousand words!
